The Bat

All young baseball players want a cool colorful bat. Here lies the problem.many t-ball size and weighted bats are a simple black. This leads many kids to start using a larger sized bat much too early.

Rating systems for bats

The size rating for bats are a litle complicated. On tee ball bats we see a rating of -14. This can mean several things to us picking it out. It is the length 28 inches minus 14 (-14) = a 14 oz bat. Keep in mind the length and weight can vary. This -14 number is the ratio you can judge the bat by.

Sizing the bat

To correctly pick out the bat for your child have him hold the bat with his power hand. (for a right handers this would be the left hand) Ask your chlid to hold it out with his arm fully extended and hold it out there for 30 seconds.
